Welcome to the Online Resources page for the INTO Manchester Learning Centre. Here you will find useful online academic databases, and resources.


OpenAthens gives you access to a variety of databases which you can use in your studies.

Accessing OpenAthens is easy, follow the link above then:

  • If you are logging into an INTO Manchester device (e.g. a computer in the Learning Centre) you will be logged in automatically.
  • If you are logging into any other device at INTO Manchester, or are located elsewhere, you will need to provide your username and password.

If you don’t know your OpenAthens username and password, please ask the staff at the Learning Centre.


The following databases are available via OpenAthens.

EBSCO Discovery

EBSCO Discovery is your first point of reference when you log in to OpenAthens.

EBSCO Discovery gives you access to thousands of academic and business journals, Ebooks, and the INTO Manchester library catalogue.

The Review Magazines

The Review Magazines archive is an ideal resource for Foundation students. The magazines cover all of the subjects taught at INTO Manchester: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business, Economics, Politics and Law.

European Newsstream

European Newsstream covers local and regional newspapers throughout Europe. This includes The Guardian, The Independent, The Times, The Financial Times as well as trade magazines like The Grocer.

Issues Online

Database on social issues. Covers topics such as ethics in business, globalisation and, ageing in society. Includes key statistics and links to a range of Ebooks on social issues.

Ebooks

INTO Manchester has two large collections of Ebooks (online textbooks) covering a wide range of subjects, useful for all of our courses.

These are called Ebook Central and EBSCO EBooks.

Tensebuster

English language grammar database which includes listening, pronunciation and vocabulary elements.
